Matar Paneer (Peas and Paneer Curry)

Ingredients

  • paneer, cubed
  • green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • onion, blended
  • tomatoes, pureed
  • garlic-ginger paste
  • coriander powder
  • garam masala
  • turmeric
  • oil
  • cream (optional)
  • salt

Ingredients

  • 300 g paneer, cubed
  • 1.5 cups green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 medium onion, blended
  • 2 medium tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 tbsp garlic-ginger paste
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp cream (optional)
  • 1.5 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Lightly fry paneer cubes in oil until golden; remove and set aside.
  2. In same oil, sauté blended onion until golden-brown, about 8 minutes.
  3. Add garlic-ginger paste; cook 2 minutes. Add tomato puree and all spices.
  4. Cook the base until oil separates, about 7 minutes.
  5. Add peas and half cup water; cover and cook 5 minutes.
  6. Add fried paneer; simmer 5 minutes. Stir in cream if using.
  7. Adjust salt and garnish with cilantro. Serve with chapati or jeera rice.
