Ingredients
- 1.5 cups basmati rice
- 1.5 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 1 leaf bay leaf
- 1 tsp salt
- 2.75 cups water
Instructions
- Wash and soak rice for 15 minutes; drain.
- Heat ghee in a pot; add cumin seeds and bay leaf; let sizzle 30 seconds.
- Add drained rice and stir gently 1 minute to coat with ghee.
- Add water and salt; bring to boil, then reduce heat to lowest setting.
- Cover tightly and cook 15 minutes; remove from heat and rest 5 minutes.
- Fluff with a fork and serve hot alongside any dal or curry.
