Ingredients

  • 1.3 lbfirm white fish (pomfret or kingfish), cubed
  • 0.8 cupcoconut milk (light)
  • 20 gtamarind paste
  • 2 tspKashmiri red chilli powder
  • 0.5 tspturmeric powder
  • 1 tspcoriander powder
  • 1 wholeonion, finely diced
  • 15 ggarlic and ginger paste
  • 1 tspmustard seeds
  • 2 tspcoconut oil
  • 1 to tastesalt

Instructions

  1. Heat coconut oil; splutter mustard seeds. Add onion and cook until golden.
  2. Add garlic-ginger paste; sautรฉ 2 min. Add chilli, turmeric, coriander; cook 1 min.
  3. Stir in coconut milk and tamarind paste; bring to simmer.
  4. Add fish; cook gently 8โ€“10 min until fish is cooked through.
  5. Adjust seasoning; serve with steamed rice.
