Ingredients

  • 1 cupmoong or masoor dal
  • 1 cupsfresh spinach, roughly chopped
  • 1 mediumonion, diced
  • 1 mediumtomato, diced
  • 1 tbspgarlic-ginger paste
  • 1 tspcumin seeds
  • 1 tspturmeric
  • 1 tspred chili powder
  • 1 tbspoil
  • 1 tspsalt

Ingredients

  • 0.75 cup moong or masoor dal
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, roughly chopped
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1 tbsp garlic-ginger paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric
  • 0.5 tsp red chili powder
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Cook dal with 3 cups water and turmeric until soft; set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan; add cumin seeds, then onion and sauté until golden.
  3. Add garlic-ginger paste, tomato, and spices; cook until oil separates.
  4. Add spinach and stir until wilted, about 2 minutes.
  5. Pour in cooked dal, combine everything, and simmer 5 minutes.
  6. Season with salt and serve with roti or steamed rice.
