Ingredients
- 1 cupswhole wheat flour (atta)
- 1 cupchana dal, soaked
- 1 tspfennel seeds
- 1 tspcumin seeds
- 1 wholegreen chili, minced
- 1 tspginger, grated
- 1 tspturmeric
- 1 cupsoil for dough + frying
- 1 tspsalt

- 2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
- 0.5 cup chana dal, soaked
- 0.5 tsp fennel seeds
- 0.5 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 whole green chili, minced
- 0.5 tsp ginger, grated
- 0.25 tsp turmeric
- 2 cups oil for dough + frying
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Grind soaked chana dal coarsely with green chili, ginger, fennel, cumin, turmeric, and salt (no water).
- Knead atta with 1 tbsp oil, salt, and water into a soft, pliable dough.
- Divide dough into balls; flatten, add a spoon of dal mixture, seal, and re-roll into a small disc.
- Deep-fry in hot oil (175°C) 2–3 minutes until puffed and golden.
- Drain on paper; serve hot with sabzi, chokha, or aloo curry.
