Ingredients

  • 1 cupsbasmati rice
  • 1 tspcumin seeds
  • 1 tbspghee
  • 1 leafbay leaf
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 1 cupswater

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups basmati rice
  • 1.5 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 leaf bay leaf
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2.75 cups water

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak rice for 15 minutes; drain.
  2. Heat ghee in a pot; add cumin seeds and bay leaf; let sizzle 30 seconds.
  3. Add drained rice and stir gently 1 minute to coat with ghee.
  4. Add water and salt; bring to boil, then reduce heat to lowest setting.
  5. Cover tightly and cook 15 minutes; remove from heat and rest 5 minutes.
  6. Fluff with a fork and serve hot alongside any dal or curry.
