Ingredients

  • 600 glean beef mince (5% fat)
  • 150 gred lentils, rinsed
  • 800 gcanned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 wholeonion, finely diced
  • 1 wholecarrot, grated
  • 1 wholecelery stalk, diced
  • 4 clovesgarlic cloves, minced
  • 300 mlbeef stock (low sodium)
  • 30 gtomato paste
  • 5 gdried Italian herbs
  • 15 mlolive oil
  • 1 to tastesalt and black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan. Cook onion, carrot, and celery 5 min until soft. Add garlic; cook 1 min.
  2. Add beef mince; cook, breaking up, until browned, ~6 min. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, lentils, stock, and herbs. Season.
  4. Simmer uncovered on low heat 25 min, stirring occasionally, until lentils are soft and sauce thick.
  5. Serve over pasta, zucchini noodles, or jacket potato.
